記者Philipp Kessler指出，曼聯球探團隊考察金玟哉已有一段時間，還會借著世界杯賽事繼續觀察這名球員，不過雙方目前尚未達成任何實質性進展。尤文圖斯以及多家土耳其頂級俱樂部也將他列入引援觀察名單。這名韓國后衛現階段在慕尼黑過得還算順心，他的合同有效期至2028年。
不過此前也有消息稱曼聯今夏并無意引進中衛，他們對目前的中衛配置感到滿意。
