After Wuhan University scrapped its public visitor reservation system on Wednesday, students complained of disruptive tourist behavior and overcrowded campus facilities.
According to posts shared by students on social media, some visitors climbed trees for photos and livestreamed campus activities, while packed cafeterias during peak dining hours on Saturday left some students without seats.
The policy drew mixed reactions among students. Supporters said universities should remain open to the public and believed the crowds would subside over time, while others argued the influx had disrupted teaching and raised safety concerns, calling for stricter measures against uncivilized behavior.

A manager at the university's Guiyuan Cafeteria said the crowds on Saturday and Sunday were mainly due to large numbers of high school seniors visiting the campus for study tours ahead of the national college entrance examination, describing the congestion as temporary.

The university's security department said it was aware of tourists climbing trees for photos but lacked enforcement authority, meaning patrol staff could only verbally discourage such behavior and ask visitors to leave.
